Bradley's got a brand new gig: Beethoven's Missa Solemnis!

Greetings, fans!

I'm excited to announce that the Los Angeles Master Chorale has offered me a fourth one-off contract in less than six months.  In about eight weeks, I will be on stage at the Walt Disney Concert Hall performing Beethoven's Missa Solemnis with 92 singers and the LA Philharmonic Orchestra.  Swedish conductor Herbert Blomstedt will be at the helm: he is an extremely accomplished conductor with 130 recordings, and is a renowned expert on composers of the Romantic era.

CONCERT: BEETHOVEN'S MISSA SOLEMNIS
LA Master Chorale & LA Philharmonic Orchestra
Walt Disney Concert Hall
Friday 4/13 @ 8:00PM
Saturday 4/14 @ 8:00PM
Sunday 4/15 @ 2:00PM

Tickets for LA Phil concerts start at ~$55 for seating *behind* the choir and orchestra, but you'll get the best sound in the balcony ($65+).  I recommend arriving an hour early for the "UPbeat!" pre-concert lecture so that you can be more familiar with the Missa Solemnis and get the most out of this experience.

If you can't make it, I would still enjoy receiving your well-wishes over the weekend.

I thank you sincerely for your continued support.

Regards,
Bradley Chapman

P.S.: If you want your tickets held at will-call, rather than sent through the mail, just dial the WDCH box office at (323) 850-2000.

First reflections on Mahler's 8th, and a sense of awe...

Saturday night's concert at the Shrine was both hair-raising and sublime.

Trying to keep up with Dudamel on some of those quick passages was tough, especially when from the back rows he seemed to be a mile away, but the payoff at the end was HUGE and totally worth all the effort and insanity.

I wish to thank those of you who have supported me all along: friends, family, coworkers past and present, and especially my wife and my sister. Without you, I would not have had the notion or the courage to try out for the Los Angeles Master Chorale. And to think of it! ...that in my first season, I have been privileged to sing three grand works--Beethoven's Ninth, and Mahler's 2nd & 8th symphonies--for the first time in my life! Last night was one of those "right place, right time" kind of moments. Truly amazing.

Music News from Bradley Chapman: Say Hello, Mailing List, and Upcoming Performances!

Hello my loyal fans,

I hope this update finds you well as we head into the holidays.  I've got exciting news to share with all of you!

SAY HELLO...
It was about this time last year that I started the process of auditioning for the Los Angeles Master Chorale, and taking other steps to advance my musical career.  When we moved to Glendale last summer, I started recording songs in the spare bedroom.  After hearing a few sample recordings, many people were asking me (and Milly) were they could buy my music.

At last, that question can finally be answered. Say hello to my new music storefront on the web:

>>> http://cdbaby.com/cd/bradleychapman3

CDBaby is one of the largest distributors of music by cage-free independent artists.  All tracks will be on sale for 99 cents.

I've only submitted one song through their online distribution service so far (iTunes and Amazon will pick it up in a few days).  Please note: the first track on CDBaby was meant to be a test, and was actually recorded 5 years ago in Guatemala.  I'm in the process of clearing the mechanical licenses for the other works I recorded in Glendale, so they should be available shortly.

Bradley has two additional performances with LAMC in January/February. Click the link for more details!

Starting in January 2012, the LA Philharmonic and Simon Bolivar Orchestra of Venezuela are running a series of concerts called The Mahler Project, which will take audiences through all 9 of Gustav Mahler's symphonies.  Gustavo Dudamel is conducting ALL of them.

As of this Friday, I have been offered a Standard Contract by the Los Angeles Master Chorale to perform in two of these concerts: Mahler's Symphony #2, and Mahler's Symphony #8 (AKA "the symphony of a thousand").

This development represents a major advancement in my musical career: the LAMC has offered me a Standard Artist's Contract of Employment for these two shows.  I will be eligible to join the American Guild of Musical Artists.  When I first received this news, I was literally bouncing around the apartment with giddy excitement.

These two symphonies are Mahler's most popular works.  Due to the heightened publicity surrounding this series, I would advise you to buy your tickets as soon as possible.

Thank you for all your love and support.

Sweetheart of the Sun

Thank you to all of you who have promised to buy or have bought tickets for the raffle mentioned in my last post!

As thanks, I thought I'd share something I worked on today, since my part time job gives me the freedom to make music on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

I made this in about 4 hours. It's about Ruth of Biblical fame, written from the perspective of Boaz who courts her and marries her.

Sweetheart of the Sun

I think it turned out very well considering the time spent. I voiced all 24 tracks in my home studio.
